Pitch, Please: Moi #05 – MAGIC

Magic has always lived here — in the body, in intuition, in the ways women have always known, created, healed and connected.

Pitches close: 15th April 2026

For Issue 05, Moi looks at magic as something felt rather than imagined. A kind of knowledge carried through the body, passed between women, and woven into everyday acts of care, ritual and connection. We’re interested in what has been dismissed, misunderstood or feared – and what still lingers, just beneath the surface.

The women once labelled as witches. The ones who gathered, who knew, who shared knowledge. The quiet power of the coven – whether named or not. This includes the often-overlooked magic of the female body – its capacity for pleasure, sensation and response. The science of the clitoris, the depth of female arousal, the intensity and mystery of orgasm. Forms of knowledge still being uncovered, still catching up to what many have always known.

We’re also interested in the ways women move in rhythm with the world around them – cycles, seasons, subtle shifts in energy and mood. Not as something abstract, but as something lived. Felt. Noticed.

We invite writers, photographers, essayists, eroticists, storytellers, pleasure seekers, journalists, sex therapists and artists to explore the many forms magic can take – from intuition and embodiment to ritual, pleasure, connection and collective power. The subtle, the unexpected, the slightly unexplainable. We welcome personal essays, cultural critiques, speculative fiction, erotic literature, poetry, interviews, visual storytelling, photography, illustration and experimental work that responds to this theme through a Moi lens – intimate, embodied, thoughtful, curious and just a little bit playful.

We’re interested in (but not limited to):
• Intuition as a form of knowledge
• The body as intelligence
• The science and sensation of female pleasure
• The clitoris, orgasm and the politics of understanding women’s bodies
• Rituals of everyday life – cooking, touch, care, repetition
• The women once labelled as witches – history, myth and reinterpretation
• The power of the coven – gathering, connection and shared knowledge
• Women and collective energy – what happens when we come together
• Cycles, rhythm and the body’s relationship to nature
• Plant medicine, healing and alternative forms of care
• The unseen, the felt, the slightly unexplainable
• Magic in modern life – where it appears, how it’s experienced
• Power – quiet, internal, embodied, expressed
• Sensuality, desire and expanded definitions of pleasure
• Inherited knowledge – what is passed down, consciously or not
• The intersection of science and something more instinctive
• Reclaiming language, stories and ways of knowing
